Go fishing tells the story of the Jewish circus artist Irene Bento, who showed exemplary willpower and assertiveness both in the circus ring and in her private life.
The talented artist survived the Holocaust thanks to her courage and the support of German circus director Adolf Althoff, who welcomed her and her family into his circus and hid them from the Nazis. The secret cue to go into hiding quickly was "go fishing". Adolf Althoff, his wife Maria Althoff and other circus employees risked their own lives to save Irene Bento and her family.
The performance not only combines circus art with choreography, text and visual art, but also uses this true historical story to question the social structure of the circus and the role of solidarity and resistance.
